Through two years of design, classroom experimentation and documentation, Techno Culture Club has created educational kits on coding and the environment (in French). These kits, intended for Science and Technology teachers in grades 4 and up, propose coding activities on the themes of citizen science, intelligent environment and sustainable development.
The objective of the project is to introduce students to programming and electronics through experimentation and prototyping with micro:bits. The activities are presented in the form of practical challenges that call upon the creativity of youths. At the same time, they will learn and develop skills related to the concepts of :
- intelligent environment: intelligent objects serving the environment (controlled lighting, intelligent flower pots, etc.)
- sustainable development: analysis and measurement of needs and consumption, energy consumption and renewable energy, etc.
- citizen science: collecting and sharing experiments and results
On April 30, 2019, Techno Culture Club also hosted a free participatory training session on programming and experimentation in the classroom at the Montreal Science Centre for about 30 teachers and educational consultants.
These kits are published under a free license and available now on our GitBook of resources.
